What We Do
Our Services and Programs
GEDCO is working to build caring and compassionate communities. We are one of Baltimore’s most creative and effective non-profit organizations, dedicated to providing affordable, supportive housing and emergency services that meet low-income individuals’ and families’ most basic needs for food and shelter. Our programs welcome and support people with special needs and foster each person’s maximum potential.
Older Adults and Supportive Services
Our Older Adult and Supportive Services answer the needs of the increasing elderly population by providing affordable housing and supportive services. At the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Gallagher Mansion and Stadium Place, we offer housing for over 500 seniors with low incomes and connect residents with social and health resources, transportation, an Eating Together lunch program, companionship, and more. We also developed the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Green House Residences at Stadium Place, an innovative, skilled nursing care home for elders needing short-term rehabilitation or long-term care. We further reach the greater senior community through the Senior Network of North Baltimore and the Harford Senior Center, where dance and exercise classes, special trips, and more are organized and held. Heritage Run at Stadium Place, built and operated in partnership with Presbyterian Senior Living, provides market-rate apartments to help fulfill our vision of a mixed-income community.
Community Services
Through our Community Services, we address hunger issues at CARES, a food pantry in the client-choice model, and an emergency financial assistance center; at CARES Career Connection, we offer employment mentoring, resume and job search help, computer training, and GED classes.
Homeless and Supportive Services
We also seek to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness through our Homeless and Supportive Housing Services. Our programs at Harford House and Micah House provide housing with intensive services for men and women who are homeless. At Epiphany House, we serve older adults (age 55+) who have low incomes and, in most cases, disabilities by providing an active, safe living community with supportive services.
Real Estate Development
Finally, through our real estate development, we are imagining a city strengthened by the vision of new communities that will create a better Baltimore. Stadium Place itself continues to grow with the addition of the Village Center, which provides health, wellness, and other services for the campus and surrounding communities. It will soon sprout with the development of additional housing units at Elkader Way.
