Substance Abuse Counselor at Micah and Harford House (Homeless & Supportive Services):
Apply for an exciting opportunity to assist people who have experienced homelessness and are currently living in permanent supportive housing. The GEDCO Substance Abuse Counselor provides supportive counseling, recovery group opportunities, linkages to services, group living facilitation, and case management to help residents achieve and maintain recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, maintain permanent housing, and to achieve other specific short and long-range goals. GEDCO (Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation) is a dynamic non-profit organization that works in partnership with faith-based and community organizations to provide affordable housing, supportive services, and emergency assistance to community residents. We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, mission-driven individual for the role of Substance Abuse Counselor, to join a team of advocacy counselors at Harford House and Micah House in Baltimore City.
Work Day/Hours: Part-time (20 hours per week); flexible days and hours to suit needs of program and residents.
Supervision: Director of Homeless Services
Employment Requirements: Minimum of five years’ experience in counseling related to substance abuse disorder with work history demonstrating progressively increased responsibility and promotion within the field. Prefer candidate with a minimum of a Masters degree or certification as an Addictions Counselor and past experience working with formerly homeless individuals.
Compensation: This is an hourly position at a nonprofit rate based on level of experience plus competitive benefits, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave time, and paid personal days and holidays. GEDCO is an equal opportunity employer.
