Five Focused Goal Areas
This plan focuses on five goal areas, serving the GEDCO Communities. Four of the goal areas align with GEDCO’s business lines. The fifth is related to strengthening the organizational capacity of GEDCO. These goal areas clarify the organization’s mission in action. The following Business Line Statements are the foundation for GEDCO’s focus in each of these areas.
-
Homeless and Supportive Services
In partnership with faith‐based and community organizations, GEDCO provides affordable housing and supportive services for low‐income older adults and people who were homeless with disabilities. We accomplish this with the support of dedicated community leaders, volunteers, and staff, as well as through dynamic collaborations with agencies, governments, foundations, donors and other organizations.
-
Community Services
In partnership with faith‐based and community organizations, GEDCO provides supportive and emergency services for community residents, offering visionary short and long‐term solutions through the dedicated efforts of expert advisers, volunteers, and staff while modeling cooperation with other agencies, governments, foundations and donors.
-
Senior Services
In partnership with faith‐based and community initiatives, dedicated community leaders and volunteers, GEDCO provides affordable housing, interactive programs and supportive services for older adults to enable participants and residents to live meaningful lives. We engage the interests and talents of residents, participants, staff and community members utilizing multiple funding sources including government contracts, foundation grants, and membership and participant fees.
-
Real Estate Development
Through the use of loans and grants, GEDCO, or in partnership with other organizations, will create self‐sustaining residential and commercial developments that are safe, affordable, and sustainable. Each property developed by GEDCO, or in partnership with another organization, will generate sufficient income to pay for the operations, services, and debt of the development while generating a development fee optimally equal to 12% of the development costs. The funds will be used to fund GEDCO’s operations and grow the real estate department operations.
